About Cy Bonnett
I am now in my early seventies, having completed in 2008 a BA (Hons) in Fine Art and I am now looking forward to meeting the challenge of an MA in Public Art.
After a lifetime in engineering, the demands of a Fine Arts Degree have opened so many avenues of new interest, far beyond my initial expectations. One is never too old to learn. I am still unaware of my own individual style except it is mainly 3D and conceptual, no doubt shaped by my experience as an engineer to meet the demands of a given project.
My latest projects reflect a growing interest in the use of lighting and movement. These aspects may have influenced my choice of favourite artists such as Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, Olafur Eliasson and James Turrell, although the 2D static poses of Alison Lambert may often provide a backcloth for my work.
A specific theme, which has lately influenced my installation ~ Cybonnetics ~ delves into the technological activity of electronic information traffic transmitted as a result of the enquiry based research conducted in and around the University of Bolton.
